2020 Market Outlook & Federal Reserve Economic Forecast

Market Outlook 2020: The concept of value vs. growth has been at the forefront of much market debate as of late. The presentation will discuss definition of both types of investment approaches, their historical performance at the backdrop of different market environments, as well as offer thoughts on the state of current markets and how behavioral finance plays into investment decisions. Attendees will leave with a sound understanding of value vs. growth investing, how cognitive dissonace works with investment decision making, and gain insight into broad investment themes as they relate to investment outcomes. Federal Reserve Economic Forecast willl include information on GDP growth, employment trends, skills mismatch in the labor market, and projections for monetary policy.

Ryotaro Tashiro is a regional economic advisor in the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. He is responsible for conducting research on current regional economic issues in the Federal Reserve’s Third District and informing external audiences on national and regional economic conditions, monetary policy, and the role of the Federal Reserve in the economy. Prior to joining the Bank in June 2016, Tashiro was a business analyst for Bloomberg, where he was responsible for conducting research on issues related to equity data quality. He also has substantial teaching experience, ranging from high school advanced placement economics to undergraduate intermediate Japanese and intermediate Spanish. Tashiro has a master’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Kenyon College.

2020 Market Outlook:

Kevin Preloger is a Portfolio Manager at Perkins Investment Management LLC. He is responsible for managing the Perkins Large Cap Value strategy and co-manages the Mid Cap Value and SMID Cap Value strategies. Mr. Preloger joined Perkins in 2002 as a research analyst covering the financial services sector. He was named co-portfolio manager of the Large Cap Value strategy in 2006 and became sole portfolio manager in 2018. He was named co-portfolio manager of the Mid Cap Value strategy in 2013 and the SMID Cap Value strategy in 2017. From December 2011 to April 2013, Mr. Preloger served as co-portfolio manager of the Select Value strategy. Prior to joining Perkins, he worked as an analyst at ABN AMRO/LaSalle Bank Wealth Management and covered the financial services and technology sectors during his five-year tenure at the firm. Mr. Preloger received his bachelor of arts degree in economics from Northwestern University. He has 22 years of financial industry experience.
